A long ago-story about two young Ukrainian Hutsul lovers living in an isolated wooden village high in the Carpathian mountains. Like Romeo and Juliet, Ivan and Marichka are tragically separated by their families’ bloodfeud; yet they remain a symbol of inseparable and timeless love. Jackets and head dresses embroidered with amber beads, shawls of roses, snow, silent icons, and wailing mountain horns… You can still see this 1960’s Russian film, once loved by Jungians and art students.
